The silence before the update

Hi guys!

What’s up? Here in southern Sweden we have a real winter for the first time in… forever. Snow and cold. Perfect when you want to hide indoors and work on your grand strategy game.

The last weeks I’ve worked on behind the scenes stuff that prepares the code for future feature updates, as well as stuff that is needed for the ‘Chronicles of Cardolya’ version of the game that I’m slowly realising.

What I just completed implementing is empire spirits. Empire spirits can be reached from the laws section in the empire screen. The example below is the Ethlorien spirit “The Long Memory”.

Empire spirits are packages that can be granted or revoked from empires, and they can give bonuses or penalties to just about all aspects in the game. Now, at the start, each faction will have a faction spirit.

Each icon and bonus/penalty can be pressed on if you want to know what it means.

The faction spirits control how much Imperial Influence that is generated each cycle, they also handle the research modifiers for each faction and new loyalty modifiers that have been added for some factions. The faction spirit also controls special abilities like the Ethlorien ability to grow new forests.

I’ve also created an Itch version of Imperium: Aeternum Emperor and hope to soon get the opportunity to launch the game on this platform as well.
