Greetings, emperors!

Today I made a small update to Imperium: Aeternum Emperor and Wars. Hopefully this update represents a shift in my bug hunting focus.

When Imperium Sine Fine was released in August last year it was a massive amount of crashes and this was seen in the poor rating it received at the start. But it wasn’t only crashes, it was also lots of ANR’s reported. ANR stand for Android Not responding and is when the game or screen stop working since there are processes locked.

Ever since the launch my focus has been on fixing the crashes and make the game run smoother without interruptions. Not so long ago the number of ANR’s went below the overall bad behaviour threshold at the Play store. And the number of crashes are now just above the threshold and slowly decreasing as players update to newer versions of the game. This can also be seen with the rating of Imperium: Aeternum Wars slowly, ever so slowly, increasing…

And with the focus shifting from fixing critical errors I’ve had time to solve other irritating bugs. Like these two:

• Armies being stuck in combat even though the opponent is dead or has moved away. This issue was fixed in the previous update and now it takes a cycle for the code to check that something is wrong and then it removes the combat status from the army.
• Armies being trapped in another factions territory after a war has ended. This was also an issue that I believe irritated lots of players. You sign a peace deal with another faction and then your armies are stuck in their territory and they can’t get out. This issue is fixed with the update today and your armies are now able to retreat out of the former enemy territory if it can find a path that isn’t blocked by armies or outposts.

Ever since the launch I’ve also worked hard to add new features. The next feature to be added is government types. When setting up your campaign you’ll also be able to select among a curated list of government types (each race has different options). As your empire progresses and researches new technologies it will upgrade it’s government and receive better bonuses, and penalties. The government style will be an empire spirit and all data about it will be found in the empire laws view.
